Antibiotics in our food

I just sent in my comments to the FDA asking them to put stricter guidelines on antibiotics used in animal food production.

I just learned from Dr. Mercola (http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/07/09/what-state-uses-more-antibiotics-on-livestock-than-entire-us-on-humans.aspx) that animal food producers use antibiotics indiscriminately not to treat disease in animals but to help them grow faster! No wonder we have so much antibiotic resistance around. While the food industry and pharmaceutical industry is getting “fat” off profits, the overuse of antibiotics has caused virulent strains of antibiotic-resistant bacteria that has put us all at risk.

They need to know that we support common sense rules to protect human and environmental health. Please join me at Food Democracy Now! today – it only takes a moment.
